A Forest Bath
Entering the Fermes de Marie spa is like entering a forest in the Alps. Thick pieces of bark, sometimes mossy, light birch trunks and branches, ferns and bricks of pink and golden salt: here, nature unfolds in a setting of still, wild beauty, soothing and regenerating. Escape to the "forest" for a few hours or a day and pamper yourself in one of the thirteen cabins of the Pure Altitude spa. Pure Altitude treatments, a home-made brand created by Jocelyne Sibuet over 20 years ago, are as delicate as they are refined. Add to this the Pure Altitude Signature Rituals, perfect for unwinding and relaxing after a day of exertion, chasing away stress, lightening or simply pampering yourself, and you're in for a treat. And if you're not strolling through the "woods", you can swim in pools, Jacuzzis and Japanese baths, or slip away to the sauna and end up pampered in the Leonor Grey hairdressing workshop after a flawless manicure by Manucurist.
A Taste of the Mountains
The rest is a matter of fashion, in the flavors of a cuisine made up of tasty, fresh and balanced dishes that generously revisit the taste of the Alps. In the large dining room of the Restaurant Traditionnel, under the immense wooden framework of Les Fermes de Marie, heated in winter by a majestic fireplace, you'll discover a lighter, gourmet version of the mountains. We can't get enough of our coquillettes with truffles, our famous ravioles with alpine Beaufort, our fresh lake fish or our exceptional meats matured to perfection. Desserts are served in a buffet or rather a farandole, all homemade. This often leads to long hesitations: ultra-melting tatin and chocolate tart, or regressive floating islands with pink pralines?
New
Le Carnotzet
Fans of fondue, alpine cheeses and typical mountain dishes can now meet at the Carnotzet, a new intimate restaurant in the heart of Les Fermes de Marie. The Swiss name given to a small, hidden cellar where wine was stored and drunk while playing cards, the Carnotzet is the perfect place to enjoy convivial recipes in small numbers in the evening. Simply ranked among the best in Megève, the fondue des Fermes is a must, as is the raclette.
L'Échappée Belle
Since a stay at Les Fermes is just as much about taking refuge as it is about discovering Megeve and the surrounding area, gourmet hikers climb up to the Alpage in summer. An exclusive retreat of Les Fermes de Marie, this chalet where time stands still is the perfect place to savour sweet and savoury delights laid out on a large red gingham table. Looking out over the Cirque du Col du Véry, Mont Charvin and the Aravis mountains, you'll lunch on homemade pâtés en croûte, pebble soup, polenta sticks, ham cut with a knife and trout from the torrent. This non-exhaustive list is rounded off by an equally tempting dessert buffet: red fruit soup, blueberry or rhubarb tart, summer clafoutis...
On the slopes
And come winter, when the white mantle has fallen over the passes and peaks, you can choose between the Relais des Fermes, the new restaurant of Maisons et Hôtels Sibuet on the Rochebrune massif, and the Relais Alpin in the heart of Megève. Facing the slopes, skis in hand, guests at the Relais des Fermes can enjoy authentic mountain cuisine of spit-roasted meats and tasty stews, warmed by the mild winter sun. Those who prefer to stroll through Megève will find themselves at the Relais Alpin, in the hushed elegance of the Mont-Blanc hotel, to munch on the best of the Alpine arc with deliciously reinvented grandma's recipes.
A very Kid's Friendly Guest House
Les Fermes de Marie has always been a wonderful playground for children. Marie and Nicolas Sibuet know this, having grown up here in this two-hectare hamlet where, in spring and summer, little ones frolic among the flowers when they're not making the snowman of their dreams in winter. But above all, the Hameau des Enfants, with its imaginative and experienced Kid's Concierge, offers a host of activities every day. From gardening and baking lessons to magic shows and wild parties, treasure hunts and movie nights, the pleasures of childhood are never the same. So many adventures and memories to share in the evening at La Table des Enfants, the children's dining area in the Restaurant Traditionnel, where they can dine... just with friends.
Which makes us think that Les Fermes de Marie is more than just a hotel and a place. A place to take care of yourself and your beauty, to be pampered, to sleep, to recharge your batteries, to escape, to stroll, to feel, to taste, with friends and above all with family. Because Les Fermes de Marie is first and foremost a luxury guesthouse created by a family for families.
A Place Apart
And to make sure you don't forget any of this taste of happiness and mountains apart, you can take your list of favorite dishes with you, as the Épicerie des Fermes offers a host of products not only gleaned but also made by the Sibuet family. Delicious travel cakes, homemade jams and honey, local cheeses, charcuterie from the Aosta Valley, rare, local wines and spirits from Domaine de Marie in the Luberon... And don't forget to pack your bags with the Pure Altitude skincare products you prefer or haven't had time to try out, as Pure Altitude has opened its first concept store in Megève.
