Putting down your suitcases in Provence

Sheltered from view and the heat of the summer sun, Mas Vermentino is only revealed once you pass through the large courtyard gate.

A stone-built family mas, organized around a vast courtyard where you can live to your own rhythm and that of the seasons. A place out of time, open and intimate, in the heart of Provence.

"In fine weather, you can enjoy every moment of the day in the shade of the patio, from the living room as well as from the large summer kitchen. Until late in the evening, when it's cooler, by the big fireplace."

All around, the Luberon hills planted with oaks and vines, lavender and olive trees, the scent of which perfumes the warm air. Inside, a large, partly shaded courtyard with a summer lounge featuring terracotta masonry benches and colorful wrought-iron seats surrounding a beautiful fireplace. It's the perfect place to take the time to get together, when you're not lingering in the large summer kitchen next door, where the table can seat a dozen guests. In the cool of the morning, to the sound of water flowing into the little fountain against the wall, you can enjoy your coffee and home-cooked breakfast, prepared daily by the housekeeper, who will be back at snack time with her arms full of marvels to munch on. This centuries-old farmhouse is rented out with 5-star hotel services: daily housekeeping, access to La Bastide de Marie services, concierge service, Pure Altitude spa... Depending on the time of day and the path of the sun, you can relax in various parts of the courtyard or take advantage of the swimming pool, just behind the large glass-like door. A long, heated stone pool, lined with bougainvillea and sun loungers, is ideal for swimming.

A taste of Provence

And when the heat or languor tells us to retreat, we make the most of this farmhouse with its thick walls that keep the air cool. The authentic, refined decor is an invitation to relax: terracotta, cookie and sunflower yellow hues, sunshine mirrors, beautiful vintage ceramics, a collection of artisan terracotta pots and vases, still lifes, basketry, beautiful books and a collection of small objects. You'll love curling up in one of the two living rooms, with their natural earthy-sun tones, rough-hewn wooden furniture, linen-trimmed fabrics and terracotta floor tiles, wandering through the large kitchen with its leafy green tones and Lacanche piano, staying in the dining room, which you enter from the courtyard, or slipping into one of the six bedrooms. All are different, carefully decorated in the same spirit of elegant simplicity. Some overlook the patio, others the curé garden, where you can pick aromatic herbs for cooking, or the Luberon crests and Saint-Hilaire abbey.

And to round off the day? Enjoy a glass of rosé or white wine from Domaine de Marie, just next door, while playing pétanque on the olive-tree-lined pitch. A truly enchanted interlude.
